Another Aphorism



When catching a glimpse of skin -- the small of a stranger's back at a coffee table, a shin, a calf, whatever -- he tries to remember that the skin is first of all an organ, like the gallbladder. Thoughtlessly, then, thoughts of gallbladders tend to pass to other thoughts. How are his friends? When will he see them again?
